TWO-WAY TRAFFIC, SIDEWALKS, AND BIKE LANES

The Fort Myers City Council previously approved converting the First and Second Street corridor from one-way to two-way. Along with improving sidewalks and bike lanes, the project will improve neighborhood safety, simplify access points, and add to downtown evacuation routes in case of hurricanes or other emergencies. Current Phase

Phase I

First Street and Second Street will be converted from one-way to two-way traffic.

Future Phases

Phase II

Traffic counts and public input will help determine additional improvements like sidewalks, bike lanes, landscaping and benches.

Phase III

Dependent on funding, Billy Creek Bridge enhancements and possible roundabouts will be evaluated.
